Curious, I have just noticed that the 23mm Summicron T Lens seems to have increased in price by approximately $500.00 this week. I had one saved in my B&H shopping cart.

Has there just been some 2017 Leica price increases?  Have all T lenses been affected?

Most of last year the Leica US savings were in effect but that was only a 12% discount, so it could explain a difference of perhaps around $200 but not a $500 one.

Perhaps Leica silently and out of the blue increased the price.  It definitely would not be the first time.  I don't recall the latest price of the 23mm though.  I paid $1,950 for mine in April 2015.

In a way the Leica TL is also a $600 price increase as the Leica T was only selling for $1,095 anymore at B&H...

I had a 23mm T Lens reserved in my Shopping cart at $1395.00 from last week. I was waiting for the TL to be in stock before buying both together. Today when i checked my Shopping Cart the lens had increased from $1395 to $1850. This just happened in the last 2 days.

I was able to get the store to Honor the old price and bought it for $1395, and I bought both units, but was surprised that the increase of $455.00 happened overnight.

Leica also advertised the Summilux-TL at $1,995, but they released it at $2,395.

Tactics like these we are discussing don't endear customer satisfaction and they seem beneath that of a classy company.

Seems like a total misfire to me. I hope they are reading.

I am generally a happy Leica but i agree. The 23mm T lens price increased by 35% overnight, I don't see how that is justified for a product that has already been in production. The stores that have inventory get to make an additional 35% more for inventory that was bought at the previous price too and simply sitting on the shelf... it seems unfair.

There is something odd that the cheapest native lens costs more than the camera now, plus being cropped lenses is quickly approaching cost of M lenses, and making the T system a tad too costly for what it is, in my opinion. Me, I backed into T ownership, already having lots of M lens choices being a long time M shooter. Since then added a couple T lenses, for far less than today's price, but they aren't my first choice on this camera. Still love the camera, but no more T lenses for me at these prices.

Anybody looking for a used T 23 lens in A+ condition from a reputable Leica dealer in Canada could send me a private message. The price is truly excellent.

I hope I am not breaking forum rules with this post.

The TL Visoflex viewfinder was also increased overnight by 15% from US $499 to $575.00

It's hard to understand where Leica pulls these numbers from. The large increase percentages do seem unjustified for products already in production and sitting on dealer's shelves.

It would seemingly be more "fair" if the increases were nominal every January 1st, just my .02 (or hundreds of dollars).

Just a guess, but perhaps due to the weakened value of the Euro to the Dollar?

The price increases seem to be an annual occurrence around Jan 1. The fluctuating dollar/euro values may play some role, but seems more random than that. The T23 lens jumped 35% overnight yet other T lenses didn't move. The EVF jumped too and the TL model camera is being introduced at an approximate  55% increase over the T and seems to be nearly identical save for a larger memory chip.

I am generally a happy Leica user and consumer but do not understand the pricing jumps on what seemingly are already very highly priced (some say over-priced) products, however,

many including myself do still purchase them, so perhaps the message that Leica perceives is that their products are immune to economic conditions as the products do seem to sell and based on Leica's braggadocious claims, in 2016 they stated sales jumped up 12%, so perhaps their products are immune to market trends and pricing constraints.
