Peter Kilmister Posted January 4, 2017 Share #3 Posted January 4, 2017 MI5 and MI6 may be watching this thread with interest. Beware, James Bond is on your tail! (At least that would be more interesting than speculation.)

Exodies Posted January 5, 2017 Share #8 Posted January 5, 2017 Excellent. But the reason I want circular is that it uses all the lens provides.
pico Posted January 5, 2017 Share #9 Posted January 5, 2017 (edited) Excellent. But the reason I want circular is that it uses all the lens provides. IOW you wish to image all the coverage available with any Leica lens for 35mm, Well, you and I know that would require at least a 36mm x 36mm format. Even 36mm ^2 will not cover what we see at 24x36mm. It simply does not square. . I Edited January 5, 2017 by pico
Michael Geschlecht Posted January 5, 2017 Share #10 Posted January 5, 2017 Hello Everybody, Actually, I think that there would need to be an approximately 30mm X 30mm square format to fit correctly inside the 42.5mm diameter circle that the 24mm X 36mm Leitz/Leica negative fits into. Best Regards, Michael

Best Regards, Michael One Leica lens that would cover more than 36x36 is the 135mm Hektor. I'm sure there are others as well. bencoyote Posted January 5, 2017 Share #12 Posted January 5, 2017 Excellent. But the reason I want circular is that it uses all the lens provides. I wonder how many problems and defects in the lenses would be uncovered if they did that. In the computer industry, I tend to find all sorts of interesting problems when I start looking in dusty corners where no one else ever bothers to look. Exodies Posted January 5, 2017 Share #13 Posted January 5, 2017 They all cover a 42.5mm diameter circle. I mean a circular sensor not a square one. I'd settle for hexagonal.

I thought he did it with 10mm while doing push ups on a galloping horse.

Best Regards, Michael You know, I think I would like an M with a square format, it would take me back to my Kodak 126 days. Actually my typ 109 has a square option and I have used it quite a few times. Edited January 5, 2017 by mikemgb

Hello Pico, The 135mm Hektor was sometimes advertised by Leitz as being designed to be able to cover a 4in X 5in format.
