Thanks Leica - R3 light trap

I bought a 'new' R3 body earlier this year to replace my faulty unrepairable body.

I used it for the first time at the One Challenge in Portugal (brought it home, as it was made there). I found out when I got home unfortunately that there was a dreaded light leak from the rear door film window. I did check the seals and they looked fine.

Fortunately the leak was only in the strongest direct sunlight and as I was also using an ERC I only lost a couple of frames at the start of each roll.

I sent Leica an email to see if they still stocked the rear foam seals and was surprised to find that they do. The new part arrived in the post today :) I'll replace all other seals whilst I'm at it.

Good to know they're still making or stocking parts for the R series... love my R6.2 and hope they can still fix it when problems arise.

I wouldn't hold out too much hope on actual repairs - I did ask about a shutter repair to my original and owned from new R3 before and it was a resounding no can do.

Funny I had the same problem once and after a phone call they send me the seals for free.

Good old days, good old days were service was still service !
