Reading on the web, the maximum reproduction ratio should be 1:22 and the closest focus distance 70cm. I'd like to use this lens for street and I like to create dramatic prospective; leaving out all the tecnicism, how much can I close up into a subject? I also love to take close portrait with wideangle lenses but I hate external viewfinder and the 28mm is the widest lens I'd like to carry in my bag. I recently bought the new Summicron and can say it's better than the old ln an M262 – in fact I'd rate its resolution as pretty well as good as the 50APO! The London dealer said during the transaction that he had used a 28 Summicron for portraiture. How close to the subject? Surely for street photo with people 70 cm isn't a limitation... to stand up with a camera at less than 1 meter from another person is rather intrusive... I'm not talking only about photos with people, but also with objects. For example if I want to clos the frame into something, how much close? Of course, 70 cm, but since I don't have the possibility to try the lens these days, I was wondering what was the maximum reproduction ratio. luigi bertolotti Posted November 30, 2016 Share #8 Posted November 30, 2016 Well... generally speaking, a WA with a small minimum focus CAN be appreciable... my wonderfuld old Super Angulon 21 3,4 goes to 40cm, my Distagon 25 (for Contarex, with M adapter) to 17 cm... not exactly the typical "leica field"... but M240 with EVF has been a giant step-up for some special takings. 2 Quote Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

When the camera is focussed at a marked distance of 70 centimeters on the lens barrel: And with the 2 rangefinder images coinciding on the subject in the range/viewfinder window: The smallest area covered by your 28mm Summicron should be about 15 centimeters by 22 centimeters.
