Leica M8 and the dreaded streaks!

Well, I guess I was bound to run into some issues with this old Leica. I took a photograph today, and yes the sensor needs a good cleaning, but on top of that the streaks appeared!

I've posted the previous shot before it showed up and then the affected shot. I'm wondering if the sun had something to do with it as well.

Anybody with experience this late in the M8's lifecycle want to talk me through my options?

Oh well.

How many Isos for the second picture ?

Banding ?

320 iso.

It may be a flare effect from the filter, and the sun. How many of these problems have you had?

I've not seen that sort of problem before, after following the M8 closely for a few years.

The M8 has proved to be a very reliable camera.  Hope you can solve it.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's the sun on the edge of the frame,

The edge reference pixels on the M8 are not too well sealed. Normally you may get this type of banding at a highlight on the edge of the frame. My speculation is that a reflection of the sun caused the streaks.

The M8 sensor has always been prone to occasional weird artefacts without any further consequences.

if not and they start appearing in more and different type shots you have a sensor problem. Let's hope not.
