Those are some superb shots. I'm on my 3rd R7. Gave one away so have a chrome and a black. Black bought recently. I love em too but use in rotation with other stuff. Keep shooting.

I have the SL and the R8, as well as the M6. While I wouldn't want to cart the R stuff all the way round the world on holiday, I really enjoy using the SLR style, more so than the R/F to be honest.

As you say, what you see is what you get.

Great shots, like the lines in the first 2 images! I too am a newbie, and that's especially in the M, as I just recently acquired a M7 with lenses. I had really thought that the M was much lighter then it is, so it seems to me that it's especially with regards to the weight of the lenses that people refer to when they talk about the extra weight of the R system.

 

So I too must confess to liking the WYSIWYG of the R, but I'm having fun in exploring the new M too, despite the challenge of remembering that only stuff within the frames will get into t he image.

 

I have a lot to learn and relearn as it's being a while since I used film, but I'm sure that I will have some fun ahead of me.

I owned a number of R bodies beginning with the SL and ending with the R8, my favorite being the R3. SLR shooting is different than rangefinder shooting, but both are fun. While I'm no longer wedded to Leica R bodies, I admit to really liking some of the lenses, especially for their sturdiness and clarity of images. I've found a less expensive alternative in some of Minolta's top of the line Rokkor lenses (Minolta collaborated with Leica on some of their zoom lenses) on Minolta bodies...not the heft of the Leicas, but color consistency across the line. Anyway enjoy your R7.

I have an R3, well two now but one has a faulty shutter and can't be repaired economically. 

 

That's the problem with any R now, if it develops a fault it's pretty much a paperweight, which is a shame as they are very nice - I'd choose an R3 every time. Fortunately you can pick them up for around £100 in working order.

Time to begin your collection:  SL through the R8.  Get at least one of each - at today's prices they are almost giveaways.  I'm waiting for the R9's to get a little lower before I complete my collection.  Still not sure if I want the digital back.

Great shots, The R7 is my favourite body for city / street photography. Lightweight (in relative terms) and unobtrusive; I usually restrict myself to only one prime lens. Combine with a small 35, 50, 60 or 90 lens. I also own a R8 (to take out with the heavy gear) and a R 6.2 when extra time required for metering does not matter.
