Hello to you all.

I am still considered a newbie so please forgive me to ask a question which puzzles me. When I looked over the member list of this forum, I was shocked to see that more than 90% of the members do not have an image next to their name? Can some of you explain to me the reason? I posted this question before on a different section, but it was suggested that this platform would be better. As I said earlier I am new to this forum chatting.

As a photographer, I find it strange that you people of all other groups out there, would not be able to take a self portrait. I did not use the word selfie, because that would be just as strange. While I do admit that taking any portrait is a challenge, so even more so a self portrait however, I always like to know, whom I am talking to. I can understand when people use some object or their favorite pet image as their social profile avatar, (please note: I did not say I like it, only I would understand it) but using a basic generic placeholder graphics, looks funny. Most of you the best equipment to create a great image particularly of personal portrait. So what is your reason to be shy?

Any way this is only to start a conversation. I will be interested in your responses...

Hello Grafixer,

Welcome to the Forum.

Interesting question.

I do it because I do not want a photo of me to bias anyone's opinion of what I might be writing.

By the way, As you look around at people's personal profiles you might find an unusually large number of Forum members from "Argentina".

This is because if the Country you choose to have under your avatar is "none" the computer defaults your choice to "Argentina". This is an issue that has been discussed on the Forum before. "None" for the same reason as no photo, by the way.

This is a very nice Forum with very nice people, members & staff both, from all over the World who have a wide breadth of knowledge in many fields & are willing to share it with you. As well as being ready to welcome you into the ongoing conversations.

So, come & explore & see what is here & when in doubt always remember to ask all of the questions that you want to.

Best Regards,

Michael

Funny, just this morning a colleague saw this Hohlwein advertising poster in office:

and he asked me if this is my granddad 'cause he is looking quite similar like me!

And I have to agree, my avatar is an iconic figure oft me.

It appears that this Portion of thoughts about this topic has not yet been integrated into the other similar Thread. This integration would benefit from this Section being placed where writers & readers of the other similar Thread can see this portion in a Chronological sequence relative to this section's Chronological co-joining the other Thread AS WELL AS this section's Chronological origination.
