Deliberate1 Posted November 12, 2016 Share #1 Posted November 12, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Friends, I am planning excursions that will put me in the wild without the opportunity to recharge for perhaps a week. I plan to take three fully charged batteries. But I have heard that there are some power storage devices that allow you to draw into a battery. Anyone here have experience with any of them? Beyond that, what can be done to minimize power draw from the camera. I assume that illuminating the screen is the biggest power suck. And long, timed exposures as well. As a practical matter, I could live with just the histogram feature - if not for just the first shot, as I often use the A setting for the first exposure and then go manual to taste from there. Is there a way of only bringing that up the histogram without previewing the image as well, if my assumption is correct. Other suggestions for power saving would be appreciated. Thanks for the help. John McMaster Posted November 12, 2016 Share #2 Posted November 12, 2016 How many images would you expect to take? I think I would get +1000 images per battery unless rather cold.... john
Deliberate1 Posted November 12, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted November 12, 2016 How many images would you expect to take? I think I would get +1000 images per battery unless rather cold.... john John, thanks for yours. I have never kept track of images per charge, but I will do that test to get a sense of it. Do you really get 1000 images per charge? If so, are you in any way stingy with the power draw, either from the camera settings or technique? Cheers. John McMaster Posted November 12, 2016 Share #4 Posted November 12, 2016 I have never drained one to be honest, when I first got my S2-P I got +800 with battery showing over half full. These days I usually have the battery pack attached and it is a long time between swapping the batteries out ;-) john
