This is Skillet Creek, which formed the canyon known now as Pewit's Nest in the Baraboo Hills of Wisconsin. This shot nearly cost me a camera and tripod. I slipped on the wet leaves and very nearly plunged into the pool to my right, which is several feet deep. I didn't mention that to my wife.

I love this shot, but I am old fashioned and prefer fast shutter speed to freeze the water. I always think that looks much more dramatic than the blurred effect. I guess it takes all sorts.

A heavier camera would have probably got you off balance.

The photo was worth your trouble, a very beautiful image.

I actually didn't have much choice. I had the ISO set at 100 to minimize noise and my aperture was f16 for maximum depth of field. Plus, it was very shaded in that spot. All of this adds up to a slow shutter speed.

the narrow escape is a hint that photographers have a dangerous life sometimes. Good, that you could come up safely and with a very good result with much atmopshere of that place.

Quite lovely.  In Belize in 2004 Barbara slipped on some dos and went into a river along with her 10x25 compact Leica binoculars.  We pulled her out okay with only her pride bruised, but the binocs were a write off.
