35mm Summarit - missing on M9?

Three clkoselyt related  questions really....

Looking to buy a 2nd hand Summarit 35mm f/2.5 - good condition, fair price, and reviews are good.  However, looking at the menu on the M9, there is no option to dial in this lens.  It seems only Summilux and Summicron are covered by the options.  The lens I'm looking at does not have 6-bit code.

My questions are -

how would you tell the camera you're using a different lens?

Does the dialing in make any difference to RAW shots anyway?

And would a 6-bit code make any difference, given the lens doesn't appear to be in the firmware?

many thanks in advance - I find the expertise shared on this Forum really valuable,

If the lens is the 35mm Summarit-M 1:2.5, then it has the required coding. The menu in the camera does not offer this entry because there exist no uncoded lenses of that type. The technical data which you can download from Leica's site explicitly mentions this.

thank you.  I'm so used to seeing ads that make clear when there is a 6-bit code, that the fact it wasn't mentioned led me to assume there wasn't one.  I guess it's such a recent lens it's been coded from the start.

On my other point though, other than EXIF data and, I assume, JPEG process, does the camera need to know the lens for RAW shots?  Or does it make no difference?

The camera applies some correction to the picture; most notably, it removes some color casts as well as part of the vignette from the corners of the picture. This is scarcely relevant for longer lenses and increasingly important for the shorter ones, i.e. for the wide angle lenses.

I do not know that makes a marked difference for the 35mm Summarit. As the camera will be able to recognize the Summarit anyway, I think the question is largely academic as long as you let the camera detect the lens which is attached.
