So, I am looking for an Inexpensive way to tether my S to a laptop ( Apple ) I want to be sure that the S and the laptop are compatible and has all the necessary internal hardware that's is needed. Thank you Look for a used retina macbook pro, you'll love the screen and any version of the retina will have enough power to process S files.. Also consider that the current Image Shuttle version, 3.4, works on El Capitan. As far as I know, it hasn't been tested on Sierra. Good luck.
