Hello,

I have several Leica Camera's and I would like to confirm that I have identified them correctly since each one has several variants and potential modifications.

I've used https://www.cameraquest.com/ltmnum.htm to narrow each camera down but I can't figure out if what I have has any details that may make it unique or even a fake.

Leica IIIG from 1956?

Serial number is 846010

Yes, the camera in the photo seems to be a IIIg from 1956. The Cameraquest serial number list is generally accurate. For visual identification you can use the Leica Historica site which is linked off the first thread above http://br.collection.pagesperso-orange.fr/leica/index.html .

Yes, this looks like a iiiG (I have one as well); I'm not aware of too many fake iiiG out there to be honest but others could correct me. If you're using these queries on all the cameras you're bringing up for something like insurance purposes, etc., depending where you are there may be more formal ways to do it. Generally fakes tend to be of the earlier models (I find) ; some of them are so ridiculously obvious as to make you want to buy them for the laugh value alone, while others can be a bit more clever. But as I said there are some websites dedicated to illustrating the features of the (usually) Russian fakes.

Thanks for the replies.

I am just trying to get more details on all the ones I have. They have been in storage for a while so I thought I'd get more details into them....

Knowing the value's would be good.

Would would be the best way to obtain values for insurance?

Thanks

Value depends on functional condition as well as cosmetic condition. There are other factors that affect value, i.e. if the camera was previously used by some famous photographer etc.

I think you should look at the various dealer websites and completed auctions on ebay to get an idea of what it would cost you to replace them.
