Thank you Charles thank you, Bateleur. it was a silent protest of war widows against sending their husbands & sons to the front. i had just arrived in Edinburgh, UK & made this photo as i was passing on my way from the railway station to my hotel. i noticed this particularly striking lady & asked her gently for her portrait.
