LarryLeica Posted September 12, 2016 Share #1 Posted September 12, 2016 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, So, how close is the image displayed by LiveView to the image captured on the SD card? Do I only see a good preview of the scene while shooting in manual mode, after pressing the shutter halfway? Tomorrow, I'll try to hunt down a Q to play with but I could use some tips. Advertisement Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Hi LarryLeica, Take a look here How close is LiveView Preview to the final picture?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted September 12, 2016 Share #2 Posted September 12, 2016 The camera LCD can never show the final postprocessed image. It can give an indication of composition, sharpness when zoomed in and a limited impression of the exposure (together with histogram and clipping indication). This goes for all cameras and brands. LarryLeica Posted September 12, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted September 12, 2016 I assume the same goes for the EVF which is what I meant to say as I plan on composing with that most of the time.

jaapv Posted September 12, 2016 Share #5 Posted September 12, 2016 Yes, but then colour balance is a matter of the photographer's choice on raw conversion. We cannot expect the camera maker to anticipate our taste completely.
Iduna Posted September 12, 2016 Share #6 Posted September 12, 2016 the EVF and the screen will give you an information of high quality as an idea what your picture may look like in terms of exposure. But this is based on jpg and the definition of how the picture is being shown. Here every company has its own secrets But only the RAW file will let you know about the potential. You will learn how to preview what you want to be in your final image after processing.

So, you may decide your shot on warmth of color incorrectly, IMHO -unless you know this.

So, how close is the preview in monochrome mode to the final image? ;-) I assume the view in the EVF is in black & white, at least that is what I understood from reading other threads.
