Silver M9P and Monochrom w/New Sensors

This is a bit of a strange question. When in doubt ask the seller to provide proof it has been replaced. The only instance where that could have happened is with Leica. When replacing the sensor, Leica will have checked and adjusted the camera up to factory specs.

Bear in mind that any replacement done before december 2015 will have the original sensor, so it might corrode again. No harm done. When this should happen again the sensor will be replaced with the newly engineered one next time, and at no cost to you.

If I were you, I would even hope for this to happen in a few years time, because it will mean a free checkup of your camera or an upgrade offer.

Leica explicitly expressed the intention to keep supporting any digital M for at least 10 years, so for the M9P and Monochrome we still have at least 7 years to go.

Where is the best place in Europe to buy used a silver M9P and silver MM that have both had their sensors replaced?

Thanks,

ACG

Keep an eye on Ret Dot Camera's used stock. I've bought cameras and lenses here and find the service excellent. Used cameras come with 6 months warranty.

Here's a link to a black M9P they have in stock as an example, the information next to the pictures will let you know if the sensor has been replaced, they get quite a few bodies with replaced sensors - http://www.reddotcameras.co.uk/m-bodies/10344-leica-m9-p-black-body-boxed.html

Not sure where you are based. I live in England and a couple of years ago I decided to buy a silver M9-P. I did get one after a long wait; at the time, and it seems the same now, for every silver one available there are ten black ones. I'm sure an expert here will be able to advise whether the difference in numbers reflects production volumes / preference in the UK / owners of silver ones being reluctant to lose them. It could be that silver ones are being traded in but are not advertised..if I were you, I would contact reputable dealers and make them aware of your interest. Then, you may get first refusal on a newly traded body. Good luck!

Stop press! The Leica dealer where I purchased my body from may have a silver M9-P in stock..bit confusing because there is a comment 'currently unavailable' but description suggests a particular body. May be worth a 'phone call. CLIFTON CAMERAS. I have found the shop superb to deal with - for the purchase as well as the two trips back for replacement sensors.
