Film and bulk film and costs in the UK

I'm UK based.

How much is decent B&W 35mm film now in the UK? Say tri ex or any other 35mm B&w film that you guys recommend.

Is it really difficult to get hold of now days? How about those mega bulk rolls you could get in the "good old days" lol?

Ilford is UK based and makes excellent films, selling in bulk rolls also. Decades ago I used only Kodak ( mainly Pnatomic X and TriX), but now use Ilford PanF and HP5+ which have nice tonality and dry without the modern Kodak curl.

Given your location, go to MacoDirect's website and do the sums for yourself.

They will stock most that you want/need, and factor in the cost of reloadable cassettes.

There are many film suppliers in the UK, it isn't hard to buy and neither are the chemicals and equipment. To name a few, Firstcall, Mathers, Speed Graphic, Silverprint, Ilford, Morco, Ebay retailers, almost any good camera shop.

Your local Boots probably carries a small stock of Ilford films, and they usually have a 3 for the price of 2 offer (although you can buy it cheaper elsewhere).

If you have the camera and are just looking to give film a try then there is always your nearest Poundland (also on their website) where you can get 24 exposure rolls of Agfa Vista Plus for a pound. Processing can be had for £2.50 a roll at the ASDA and they will scan and put up to 4 rolls on a CD for £2. If you decide you like using film again, look for a local camera fair where you can often get film at relatively good prices or as stated above there are numerous places on the Internet you can buy and get developed film.
