Guys

I'm printing off +/- 20 prints for my exhibition using Epson Roll Canvas Satan. My issue is is that some of the prints are 6 x 6 and some are normal 4 x 3 after I have printed the first picture and go to the next picture the printer waisted a bunch of paper......see below;

Is there a way to combat that so that I don't waist canvas??

Also how can I force PS to use matt black rather than photo black??

I found the easiest way to print good quality without any agro is to forget all about the Epson Driver and install Image Print 10.

Printing off role / thin paper/ heavy paper whatever.Not cheap but works like a dream.

I agree, the RIP software is the way to go. Image Print has a great library of paper, better than Mirage. A low cost RIP is Quad Tone, but you would need to check the printer/canvas combi. Not sure if the Quad Tone trial version places some stuff on the print, Image Print does

To be honest I'm now getting really realistic prints just using photoshop and Eizo monitor. The spacing issue is also sorted now that I read the manual:) :)

Hi Neal

Glad you managed to sort it out. Can't beat RFM re read the flipping? manual.

The best work flow is the one that gives you the results you want. Having said that I was reasonably happy with my P800 printer and it was after reading Jeff ,s post that renewed my interest in Image Print and I am delighted with the gains in quality and minimal agro the programme has given me. Enjoy your next trip.

Brian I downloaded the trial version but didn't RTFM so it was like the blind leading the blind. When I get back from Vietnam I will take another look at it and see what all the hype is all about.

I did notice that the blacks on my monitor were not as black on the paper which is a bummer as most of my prints are B&W. Maybe it's the paper...... Hell I don't know, but I will have fun trying to figure it out

For me, one of the best reasons to use IP in addition to LR (or Photoshop)....I print using IP as an external editor from LR....is to get away from the Apple-Adobe-Epson print chain, which has been fraught with issues over recent years, including unannounced color management issues and various other quirks introduced by new iterations..  IP eliminates the problems and the need to continually check settings, making print workflow seamless.

And IP has videos on their site.....for those who don't like to read manuals.  <_<

One of the benefits to myself with IP 10 is what you see on the screen is your picture in soft proof i.e. what is going to come out of the printer ( what you see is what you get ). it avoids going through a separate of soft proofing stage.

So the black you see is what comes out of your printer. Naturally the correct profile for the paper you are using has to be applied.

I have not been using IP 10 for long but learning all the time. I would suggest you try it. Jeff S is  using it very successfully and has posted some handy information.Lots of interesting info on the Luminous Landscape ( Lu La ) also.
