Question for Leica 35mm summarit-m 2.5 user

Hello everyone, recently I purchase a brand new 35mm summarit-m 2.5 online, and discover there are a ring of "gray metal dots" around the lens barrel. Have anyone of you notice this? I am also waiting for Leica to get back to me, but I like to know if this is part of the lens design or something, maybe glue the lenses together to the barrel? I put the lens under light and can see it really clearly all around the lens barrel.

Thank you for your feedback.

I don't know what should be the gray dots in your photo. Here is mine. I have not found a problem with the lens.

The spots appear to be simple dust.

Your choices are to humiliate yourself by sending it back to Leica or use the lens

and enjoy because those tiny specks amount to NOTHING.

I think it is not dust but what looks like some glue of something? Either way, if I'm looking at the correct spot (under the red line) it does not look quite right.

I doubt it will effect the image, but it will effect resale.

Maybe use a circle instead of a line so we all know what you're talking about?

I feel it is like glue or something, because they go all over the barrel ring. Definitely not dust because they are too much, and are applied circular through the barrel, some parts are less, some part are more.

To Michael: Yes indeed it is under the red line, you are right, I doubt it will effect the image but probably resale value. Will see after I finish shooting this roll of film.
