Hello Everyone,

I just ordered the Leica X-E with 50% discount. Instead of 1500 Euros, I paid 750 euros. A great deal for a new Leica I guess.

Before today I never thought I would ever own a Leica. I was actually on the brink of buying the Fuji X-T1 or a Sony A7.

I just give this Leica a try. I can always sell it if I don't like it.

Did I made a good choice ? (Just say yes please ! :))

Welcome to the forum Asterinex.

I think you have, congratulations.

While I have not experienced the X-E, I had the X1, and still have the X-Vario, and wow, awesome cameras.

An optional optical finder is available for the X1, and I think it fits the X-E as well. (Leica number #18707). I used it with the X1 and still have it, if you find you need one.

Yes, good idea, you might find the LCD is all you need.

I have the EVF2 (the Leica one) on my X-Vario, it is nice, and I use it occasionally, otherwise, LCD most of the time.

The optical finder makes the camera more like the older style R/F cameras, with the finder not really getting in the way, and allowing quick "street shooting" style use.

Either way I am sure you'll love the new camera.

Excellent choice! I have the X2, an earlier version of the X-E. The Olympus VF-2 works perfectly with it. However, I now have the VF-2 on the X Vario and a Voigtländer 35mm OVF on the X2. Composing pictures with the camera monitor just feels too unnatural.for me.

Now I ordered the X-E for 749 euros I got an offer for a second hand Leica X with Visoflex vf for 1299 euros with 1 year garanty at local store.

Should I keep the new X-E or should I return it and buy the Leica X + Visoflex ? (It is 'only' a 550 euro extra )

thx for the input !

I'd opt for the X and the Visoflex. You can always sell the Visoflex (I am looking for one at the moment, sort of) off-setting some of the costs. Is the cost of the X and Visoflex "about the right sort of money" in your area though? I'm not conversant with prices, wherever you are.

Or sell the Visoflex and get an optical finder (I am selling one, see where this is heading  ).

Either way, later camera, and nicer (to my mind anyway).

I think I prefer the IQ of the X1 X2 X-E to that of the X, based on online images. However, I would have to work with the X in my own way in order to be sure. (I wasn't sure about the X Vario until I got one in my hands and discovered that the camera and I are a match made in heaven. :))

You'll have a lot of fun with it. I've had an X2 for about four years, and it's still my default travel camera. Very lightweight kit, a spare batt and you're laughing. I routinely print 12x18 prints that look like K25 slides used to look like. If you use the autofocus, the facial recognition feature is a good idea. I usually use a Voigtlander optical viewfinder (cheaper), but also have an EVF, which is probably worth it if you're used to using an EVF.

Thx everyone. A difficult choice. But the compactness of the X2 is a big advantage as second camera.

I had a silver X2, then I sold it for the X 113 shortly after that the Q came to me. Q was before my dream camera, but then: terrible ooc-Jpegs (I don´t like RAW development very much). I sold the Q and had enough money for a large choice of cameras.

And what do you think what I bought? A nearly new used X2 again. On my bicycletrips it fits perfect in the bag at the handlebar. If nothing new comes at photokina I will buy additional to the X2 a good X-Vario. I´m very glad with the performance of the X2!

Buy X113 if bigger dimensions are no problem for you. Then I think its the camera with the better handling and also some better low light performance. Also the lens doesn´t drive out when switching the Camera on (if I remember right).

Many greetings

Andreas

Did you buy the Leica X + Visoflex for 1199 euros ? New or used ?

It was listed for 1299, a used Leica X (Typ 113) with Visoflex (Typ 020), I emailed them and haggled it for 1199, at a known store in Rotterdam.

I think you bought the one I wanted to buy :) lol. (I PM'd you).  I took an option on it and they would send it to Antwerp so I could take a look at it.

Now I know they did not. (was voor mij gereserveerd,

Blijkbaar niet dus. Ik ga ze  morgen direct opbellen en om antwoord vragen, is niet netjes. ).

Meanwhile I did some research and watched a lot of pictures.

1)The images of the X, I liked better. More 3d depth. Also the faster lens allows for more isolation.

2) Leica X-E(X2) is a lot more portable, but not so small it fits in a pocket

3) I discovered the Ricoh GR II which fits in a pocket and has similar IQ as the X2, operates faster and is a lot cheaper.

Now that Jip ran away with this X-offer, I'll probably buy the Ricoh GRII and save some money for a Interchangable Lens Leica Camera.

Doesn't the GRII have a 28mm (full frame equivalent) field of view? That seems excessively wide to me for general purpose, and (thankfully) has kept me from lusting after the Q. However, if they come out with a 50mm Q, I'm doomed.

yes it does have a  28mm (full frame equivalent) field of view? It is rather wide, but after seeing pictures on flicrk, it seems ok :)
