Ernstk Posted August 10, 2016 Share #21 Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) If you're thinking of a 90mm lens and don't mind f4 max aperture, you should look at the 90/4 Elmar-C. I got one a few weeks ago and I'm really happy with it. Also very cheap! Here's an example... http://www.l-camera-forum.com/uploads/monthly_07_2016/post-29476-0-05968900-1468884942.jpg Ernst Edited August 10, 2016 by Ernstk 1

Belle123 Posted August 10, 2016 Share #22 Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) Hi, I recently bought a M9 and a pre-A 35/f1.4. I propose to buy one more lense either standard or tele but preferably in f2. Any suggestion from you guy? Thanks. Since you mention prefer F2, definitely the Summicron 50, pre Asph would be an excellent choice and compliment your first lens. My favorite all round lens and can find second hand reasonably priced. New is still available. Belle123 Posted August 10, 2016 Share #24 Posted August 10, 2016 Sorry I don't know which version is pre ASPH. Is it version 5 (1994-2013)? As far as I know, all Summicron 50mm versions prior to the Summicron 50 Apo Aspherical which is extremely expensive are non Aspherical. So any of those versions should be great. I own version 4. Chubkins Posted August 24, 2016 Share #30 Posted August 24, 2016 Got a Summaron 35 arriving tomorrow without the goggles. How hard is it to find the goggles by themselves? May just sell it along if it's difficult.
Mute-on Posted August 24, 2016 Share #31 Posted August 24, 2016 The Summaron are made either with goggles (for M3) or without (for M2 or LTM). They are not an accessory addition, such as for the DR Summicron. Sorry Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
jaapv Posted August 25, 2016 Share #32 Posted August 25, 2016 Got a Summaron 35 arriving tomorrow without the goggles. How hard is it to find the goggles by themselves? May just sell it along if it's difficult. If it is a lens made for the use with goggles it will be impossible to focus correctly with them missing. The lens will be locked at infinity, and even if the infinity lock is broken it will mis-focus at all other distances, increasingly so as subject distance diminishes. If it is a lens made for use without goggles it will be impossible to fit them. See the post above. I would put the chance of finding goggles without lens at very low, but who knows, Lady Luck may help.. A lens with missing goggles will be near-impossible to sell. lct Posted August 26, 2016 Share #33 Posted August 26, 2016 I would not purchase a current lens if you want to match the image quality of your Summilux 35/1.4 pre-asph. Choosing a Summilux 50/1.4 or a Summicron 50/2 from the same period could be a good idea.
neekon Posted August 27, 2016 Share #34 Posted August 27, 2016 (edited) Early 80s 75mm Summilux is my next lens, just ordered and its on its way will compliment my Planar 50mm f/2 and my 28mm Elmarit_ASPH very well Edited August 27, 2016 by neekon
Infantasy Posted August 28, 2016 Author Share #35 Posted August 28, 2016 (edited) Thanks all for your input. I eventually bought a used 50 summicron V4. But have a little bit sad cos the lenses had some haze in the middle len which I was not aware during checking. Although no visible effect on the image, I would bring it to clean by a technician. BTW, even some guys prefer the old lenses, it is hard to find a good condition old lenses in the 2nd hand market after had this bad experience. Hence I would rather buy a V5 if I could have a chance again. Edited August 28, 2016 by Infantasy
IWC Doppel Posted August 29, 2016 Share #36 Posted August 29, 2016 I would take it back if it has haze, that's a shame. The V4 and V5 are essentially the same other than the body
lct Posted August 29, 2016 Share #37 Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) v5 is less prone to flare than v4 though. May be due to different coatings perhaps i don't know. Edited August 29, 2016 by lct
Clactonian Posted August 29, 2016 Share #38 Posted August 29, 2016 A Summarit-M 35mm f/2.4 ASPH to compliment my existing CV 1.4/35 SC. Slowly getting some Leica glass in the bag.
dpitt Posted August 29, 2016 Share #39 Posted August 29, 2016 Do you mean V2 Summicron f/2 rigid? Sorry for answering this late. Yes I meant the 50cron rigid. You can see all classic versions of summicron 50 described here: http://www.kenrockwell.com/leica/50mm-summicron-comparison-table.htm Only the APO version is missing from this list.
