BBHewee Posted August 8, 2016 Share #1 Posted August 8, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) So. I decided to clean off some grime and took the bayonet off my Lux 75. I've somehow managed to completely mess it up as I now have several pieces in my hands. Apart from sending it to Will van Manen, would anyone have any tips/instructions for me to put it back together please? Thanks
Advertisement Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Hi BBHewee, Take a look here Summilux 75 - Reassembly help!!!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pico Posted August 8, 2016 Share #2 Posted August 8, 2016 No tips, sorry, however you could do us all a big favor and photograph the parts and back of the lens.
John McMaster Posted August 8, 2016 Share #3 Posted August 8, 2016 Such a fussy lens for calibration (Solms took three goes to make mine focus correctly) I would send it to a specialist..... john
michaelwj Posted August 8, 2016 Share #4 Posted August 8, 2016 Rare(ish) out of production lens: check Prices steadily increasing on the used market: check Precise focus adjustment required: check Open it up to clean out some gunk at home: why not? Parts left over: whoops! Sorry I can offer no actual help
BBHewee Posted August 9, 2016 Author Share #5 Posted August 9, 2016 Thanks for that Michaelwj. I was not intending to "open it up", nor did I. I only unscrewed the bayonet (as I have done a couple of times without a problem on this lens, and many times on other lenses), but the casing came undone. I did not open up the optical block, and there are no parts left over. I'm going to drop it off with Will later this week for him to sort out. Otherwise it's a trip to Solms and that's fine. Lesson learnt.
Exodies Posted August 9, 2016 Share #6 Posted August 9, 2016 I think there's one part left over - a sense of humour.
BBHewee Posted August 9, 2016 Author Share #7 Posted August 9, 2016 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I appreciate that. I can also appreciate that my current frustration (at myself) may make me a little curt, to say the least, so apologies for that. MarkP Posted August 9, 2016 Share #8 Posted August 9, 2016 Send it off for specialist CLA. This is not a lens to fiddle with.
Gregm61 Posted August 9, 2016 Share #9 Posted August 9, 2016 You are braver than me. I've just gotten comfortable wet cleaning my M262's sensor. No way I'd do anything more than clean the front element of a lens with a Zeiss pre-moistened cleaning pad. Anything else, off to a specialist it goes. Steve McGarrett Posted August 11, 2016 Share #10 Posted August 11, 2016 Without some pictures "to see the mess" I think it's impossible to help
BBHewee Posted August 12, 2016 Author Share #11 Posted August 12, 2016 Taking pictures would only further prove I'm an idiot... haha In all seriousness, I sent it away, Will has fixed it already and all is well. Its cost me a little, but that's the idiot tax.

BBHewee Posted August 19, 2016 Author Share #13 Posted August 19, 2016 It's back, it's fixed. And I've indeed learnt my lesson.
