pridbor Posted July 27, 2016 Share #1 Posted July 27, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have finished cleaning out all the old seals in my R3 in order to install new ones I bought more years ago than I care admit to! But here I am on my last stretch in getting my R3 operational again, and I need once more a little help from you people. Since this operation has taken years, I can't any longer remember from where I removed the old seals, and the seal kit I bought is for the R4 as the fellow I bought them from didn't have a kit for the R3, and hence no instructions. So I do know that there are 2 seals in the hinge area, one on the body and one on the door, at least I think I know. Also the "Window" seal on the door is rather obvious. It also looks logical to have 2 long seals in the "long slots" on the top and bottom of the body, right? Now where I'm in doubt is if there also should be 2 long seals on the door??? I had gooey stuff on the door along the area where there could have been a seal, but then again it could also be gooey stuff from the disintegrating old seal, they were nasty after all these years, (from 1976), so far the only thing that I have found bad. Note: I did have a problem with the self timer, which almost freaked me out as it didn't go all the way home and effectively blocked the functioning of the camera. Having otherwise tested all other stuff I accidentally operated this lever and didn't know what to do, but after 10-15 times it all of a sudden started to work and made my day
Advertisement Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Hi pridbor, Take a look here R3 Seals. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pridbor Posted July 30, 2016 Author Share #2 Posted July 30, 2016 Not much feedback here I actually also forgot to ask if anybody knew if there's a Mirror Damper Pad in the R3, but... Seals are in and film is loaded and I did make a few shots, so time will show if any false light enter the camera.

wagner Posted July 31, 2016 Share #4 Posted July 31, 2016 Hi! There is no mirror damping pad necessary in the R´s, since they have a special mirror mechanic. (Spiegelschleifengetriebe)
