@McLeica Posted July 23, 2016 Share #1 Posted July 23, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi All Has anyone else had this problem. About 6 weeks ago, I took the hood off my Q and just used the ring supplied over the hood threads and put the hood in my cabinet. The hood has always fitted just fine. Anyway, I've just tried to put the hood back on the Q and it won't go all the way into position. Very odd. To get it on properly I'm feeling like it would require a bit of force so I backed off doing it. There has been no damage to the hood at all so I'm wondering what's going on here. Thanks. faxao Posted July 23, 2016 Share #2 Posted July 23, 2016 The last quarter of a turn when I screw the hood on my Q feels always a bit "tight" but I think it is normal as it has to be tight fitted to stay in place when on.
Jared Posted July 24, 2016 Share #3 Posted July 24, 2016 The hood screws on against a rubber gasket, so there's a fair amount of friction the latest 1/8th of a turn. That's normal. - Jared
Leica Guy Posted July 24, 2016 Share #4 Posted July 24, 2016 A suggestion I read on this forum that works great is simply rub some oil which collects on your skin on your face or nose into the threads of filters or the hood. I admit it's a bit unusual and I had not thought to do it, but once I tried the idea, it's a winner. And yes, the last 1/8 turn is tight at least for the first half dozen times I tried removing and reinstalling the hood. Good luck.

vamp07 Posted November 1, 2016 Share #6 Posted November 1, 2016 That hood needs lots of pressure that last 1/4 turn to go in place. Thant's all there is to it. It feels like more pressure than should be necessary but there is no working around it.
Leica Guy Posted November 2, 2016 Share #7 Posted November 2, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've had myQ firs year and never use the lens cap. The hood does a great job protecting the lens. I mostly keep the camera in a bag. The cap is unnecessary for me.
