Manicouagan1 Posted July 18, 2016 Share #1 Posted July 18, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been trying out the different metering settings in my Leica M Monochrom (246). My preliminary conclusion is that the Classic setting measuring off the shutter curtain works just fine, or at least like previous digital Leica M’s. I more or less can predict any needed exposure bias. Most of the time, I put in put in a -0.3 EV exposure compensation to give the sensor a bit of headroom and the images a readily reworked in Leightroom. When I use color filters to cut haze or make clouds bolder, I find that I get pretty consistent results with the Advanced Setting with a center-weighted bias. Those settings certainly work better at guessing what the difference will be between the metering sensor reading off the shutter curtain and the response of the imaging sensor. Do any of you have and experience with different metering options on the 246 for images made with color (yellow, orange and red) filters? If so, could you share your insights? Advertisement Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Hi Manicouagan1, Take a look here Metering 246 with color filters classic or advanced-center weight. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted July 18, 2016 Share #2 Posted July 18, 2016 The point being that you are increasing contrast. That can be more demanding for exposure measurement (like whiter clouds against a darker sky). In general it should not really make a difference.
