Richardgb Posted July 12, 2016 Share #1 Posted July 12, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) This morning I was happily using Lightroom 6 and then closed it while I did other things. Now, when I try to open it, it doesn't do so. It gets as far as the start-up screen and 'golden trees' image and then freezes - 'not responding' appears at the top and in Task Manager. I've checked the Adobe product forums but there's no clue. Any ideas?

jaapv Posted July 12, 2016 Share #2 Posted July 12, 2016 Windows I suppose? Maybe a register entry got corrupted. Assuming that you already restarted your computer I would reinstall LR
Richardgb Posted July 12, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted July 12, 2016 Thanks, Jaap. After further tedious searching, I found an update page on Adobe's site http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2013/06/keeping-lightroom-up-to-date.html. I took a chance and installed the most recent (6.6/2015.6) version and, miraculously, I can now open LR and the catalog. (Unfortunately, Adobe seem to think that users will update from an already-open program. In my case I couldn't, nor could I find the version of LR already installed ) If this hadn't worked, I suppose I would have had to uninstall and reinstall Now keeping my fingers crossed when I close the program again later.
