Whizzer65 Posted July 8, 2016 Share #1 Posted July 8, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) D-Lux cannot be repaired? After waiting more than 5 weeks for a response for a frozen or "wedged" lens, Leica Repair (USA) informed my camera store the needed repair part was "no longer available." How is this possible with a Leica recently released, and only a year after purchase? And yet "new" D-Lux 109 are currently available on Amazon and elsewhere. A mistake? Advertisement Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Hi Whizzer65, Take a look here D-Lux cannot be repaired?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted July 8, 2016 Share #2 Posted July 8, 2016 Only a year after purchase? Surely it is under guaranty? So there is an obligation to repair or replace. Normally a Leica camera is repairable for at least ten years after production end, even Panasonic Leicas.
mikemgb Posted July 8, 2016 Share #3 Posted July 8, 2016 The D-Lux has a three year warranty, I believe it states Leica will repair or replace, I don't see how they can just say that your camera cannot be repaired?
Adam Posted July 8, 2016 Share #4 Posted July 8, 2016 Odd and not very professional. Tell them to send you a new camera, CC- the correspondence to Wetzlar.
jaapv Posted July 8, 2016 Share #5 Posted July 8, 2016 Good advice, Adam. It will probably produce a speedy repair of the original camera.
stuny Posted July 8, 2016 Share #6 Posted July 8, 2016 They are discontinuing the 109 (new model coming?), they have no black ones left, but they do have gray ones which they should be able to send to you. I agree with Adam.
Whizzer65 Posted July 12, 2016 Author Share #7 Posted July 12, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Many thanks to everyone for information and ideas. I have been in touch with Germany (where I was given a tour and had good conversation last September), and they have contacted USA. Am assuming a positive outcome. But discontinuing so soon? And only gray? (Amazon USA still lists black for sale.)

I agree with Adam. Are you sure that they are discontinuing the D-Lux (Typ 109) ? How long has that model been out (available) - I just purchased a brand new black model.
