Leica S trade up

I can tell you that when I spoke to a Leica guy in a store recently (I am in the UK) he mentioned that potentially he can help me upgrade to the S007, but he never called me with the details. My guess is that Leica will want to make us update to S007, especially after the new Hassy appeared, so I would think this is genuine. Have you called or emailed them?

The promotion is a rip off :( :(

I just called Singapore and they said that I would need to give them my 006 plus S$18250 and for that you get a new S007 plus spare battery. In other words you give them your camera plus USD13500 to get the 007 making your 11 month old  S006 worth USD3400

Malaysia promotion is also tied to Leica Singapore as you have to pay Leica Malaysia RM55,000,00 ~the same as S$18250

Well, if you don't like a deal you walk away from it... No need to get upset.

Jaap

I'm not upset about it as I am now keeping my S006............... but it will make me think twice about buying anything else from Leica with that kind of exorbitant depreciation :( :(  ...............Even Leica is valuing there S006 at 20% market price

Yes, the equipment may be bought to use and not as an investment to sell in the future, but that is significant depreciation over a very short time. The digital M cameras don't drop in value anything near that fast. So use it and enjoy the results as it still produces exquisite results - once you get the AF working on that lens!

There are a few of us who still like our low ISO, no live view, no video, CCD dinosaurs. The market - not Leica - has decided that, unless it has a CMOS chip that shoots video, has live view with magnified focus assist (a VERY nice feature, BTW) and can shoot usable ISO 6400 images, it is just not worth much. (I'm hoping that the Phase IQ260 price falls off a cliff soon. I lost an enormous amount buying a *used* IQ140, and it's just worthless today.)

Anyway, it's the technology that moved ahead. Hardly Leica's fault.

I could be wrong but my guess is that the free M lenses offered will be 50 and 75 Summarits (and maybe the 35 and 90).

Thank you Mark!

It would be quite nice if I could get the new 75/2.4 in chrom finish! It's the only Leica focal length I don't have in silver [emoji51]

I got the SL "kit" so I qualify for the offer. I just haven't seen mention of it in the EU so far, I'll call Wetzlar tomorrow and clarify

Will you get a third SL when a wide zoom arrives?

Jeff

That would entirely depend on the focal range, size and weight of the zoom

Maybe I'm just too used to the M but I was fumbling around with settings and losing shots

Now I'm permanently set up, I simply have to draw and capture

I'm curious to see what the next M will do [emoji4]

When I was at Leica Wetzlar about one month ago, I was informed that a trade-in program was as good as ready. The S 006 or S2 can be traded in against a 007 camera for an extra 9800 euro excl VAT at the Leica Store Wetzlar. The net price of a new 007 is 15000 euro excl VAT. Meaning the value of a traded-in S 006 or S2 is 5200 euro excl VAT.

Hope this helps.
