The Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club Rally is again being held at Burghley Park, Stamford, Lincs. UK on Fri 24, Sat 25 and Sun 26 June 2016.

 

One of the interesting RR cars attending is RR Silver Ghost reg. BF 6494 allegedly used by the 1st Cork Brigade of the IRA in the 1920s as an armoured car - the brass plate photo refers:

Saturday 25 June celebrated the 110th Anniversary of the first 1906 Rolls Royce 6 cylinder 40/50hp which became known as the Silver Ghost and was manufactured for twenty years.

Clark and Carter Restorations Ltd displayed this Bentley 8 litre Special which started life in 1928 as a Hooper 4 seat Sports Saloon.

Difficult to photograph within the cramped constraints of the marquee but the SL 601/ 24-90mm coped reasonably well.

Nice!

 

Even before we get down as far as the snap with the MC initials on the rear wing there's the Monegasque bar-badge which suggests it has probably enjoyed a pretty decent lifestyle in the recent past....

 

Time to get down behind the sofa cushions again - just in case!

Also in the Clark & Carter marquee was this 1969 Bentley T Type Pininfarina 2 Door Saloon being prepared for the concours judging.
