Leica M (240) FW 2.0.3.0 Problems

Even before the latest upgrade my M240 was erratically reporting the ASPH coding but only when I use a newly purchased Nocti .95mm.  Most times it reads the coding but sometimes not.  And obviously the Exif info does not show it in LR5 either.  The software just displays "--" instead of the focal length.  It did it again tonight so I pulled out the lens and cleaned the coding sensor in both the body and the lens mount.

The M read the code, I turn off the camera, turned it back on and the coding showed on the LED;  I powered it on again and the coding was gone.  Turned it back on again and the coding came back.

Interestingly this problem has never happened when I use the 35mm 1.4 ASPH.

We could use a feedback from Leica on this matter.

With Leica M9, if the camera went to asleep (2 minute timer or whatever the option was set to) and then was re-awaken via the shutter release, the camera would not re-read the six coding.  Turning the camera on/off or remounting the lens did the trick.  That was M9 days.  I've not seen this problem with my M-P (240) or M-M (246).  Over the years, if the camera wasn't capturing the 6-bit data, the problems have been -

1)  lens not fully clicked into locked position

2)  the 6-bit optical sensor on the camera body was dirty

3)  the 6-bit divots on the lens were dirty or compromised somehow

By far #1 has been the most common culprit (for me).  #2 has been the case maybe 1-2 times over a 10 years history with digitals M.  #3 has happened from time to time, generally when using adapters of some type (the 6 bit coding was alignment was less than ideal on the adapter).   If using a black sharpie pen to "6 bit code" lenses, that ink flakes off and can leave both the lens mount and camera bayonet quite dirty (causing issue #2).
