Mastrano Posted June 9, 2016 Share #1 Posted June 9, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone! This is my first post on this forum, I'm an art photographer of italian descent living in Belgium and I recently purchased my first Leica, the monochrom because I wanted a light and well built system to shoot black and white without distractions. I also own and love a Fuji X-Pro2 and a bunch of Nikon film cameras (FM2, FM). As I'm a bit paranoid about dropping my cameras I am currently looking for the perfect wrist strap. Some extensive googling revealed that brands such as Artisan&Artist or Hard Graft were quite popular but upon visiting their websites and seeings the materials listed as only "leather" without specifiying what kind of leather it is does not inspire great trust. I'm a lover of fine and well made things, a bit of a hedonist you could say. I get bespoke suits from my family tailor in Naples and take pride in wearing the best hand made italian shoes (even though I can't really afford it and the wife kinda hates me for it but hey, these things last forever!) Do you gentlement have any recommendations as to the best hand or wrist straps for my Leicas and Fujis? I'm willing to spend up to €400 (/$480) for the perfect strap but please note that it needs to be available for purchase to europeans. Thanks so much, Regards, Mastrano

As for my shoes, after five years in the military they are always perfectly polished! It's true that too many people neglect the care of their footwear. mija1789 Posted June 9, 2016 Share #4 Posted June 9, 2016 Have you looked at http://www.4vdesign.it/en , an Italian company ? I have their Lusso neck strap medium. Very comfortable to wear and the brown/cyan colour combination is perfect (for my taste ). However I have neither tried nor seen their wrist straps and therefor cannot comment on them. Just food for thoughts.
Jeff S Posted June 9, 2016 Share #5 Posted June 9, 2016 (edited) You'll find many threads discussing straps (wrist and other), often with associated links.....just enter search words in box at top. The usual Italian (sounding) suspects are Luigi, Angelo Pelle and Arte de Mano (the latter sounding Italian, but actually South Korean, I believe). But there are many others often mentioned.. Artist and Artisan, Harry Benz, Gordy, etc. I personally use the stock M shoulder strap.....no drops over several decades....but always carry personal insurance for accidents, damage and loss not covered by warranty. Tastes vary.....just try searching camera bags. Jeff Edited June 9, 2016 by Jeff S
Mastrano Posted June 9, 2016 Author Share #6 Posted June 9, 2016 Thanks guys for your suggestions so far, it does not need to be italian though! I don't mind where it's from as long as it is the best strap money can buy. I saw tons of brands but no one actually discussed which ones are the top tier ones, or at least the ones like A&A seem to get good reviews but looking at pictures they look pretty cheap to me so IDK what to think? pippy Posted June 10, 2016 Share #8 Posted June 10, 2016 The Harry Benz straps mentioned by Jeff S seem to be very beautifully crafted. The Urushi in particular might be to your taste if you like a slim strap. Here's a link to the site; http://www.harrybenz.com/shop/ Pip.

jaapv Posted June 13, 2016 Share #12 Posted June 13, 2016 Is this a serious question? 400 Euro for a wrist strap?
250swb Posted June 13, 2016 Share #13 Posted June 13, 2016 "paranoid about dropping my cameras" but willing to trust in just one strap lug? The very idea of a wrist strap is 'form over function' but the concept does perfectly match the purchase of a 400 Euro wrist strap.

pop Posted June 13, 2016 Share #15 Posted June 13, 2016 I can recommend the wrist strap by Joby. If the budget is very important, buy twenty-five: http://joby.com/camera-straps/dslr-wrist-strap

terrycym Posted July 11, 2016 Share #18 Posted July 11, 2016 I have an Annie Barton braided wrist strap that I bought from Red Dot Cameras. I am VERY pleased with it.
Archiver Posted July 20, 2016 Share #19 Posted July 20, 2016 (edited) For 400 euros, you could probably go to a leatherworker, select the leather yourself, and have them make something to your specifications. Take the best ideas from elsewhere and create your own, and you'll have a unique strap that is exactly as you desire. Given that you have bespoke suits and shoes, they may know someone, or can point you in the right direction. Upvote for Annie Barton straps. I've met Victor and handled the straps, and they are excellent quality. Edited July 20, 2016 by Archiver
