Every few years an advertising company needs a Leica M to spice up their product?

Do you think Leica gets a piece of the profit to?

On Dutch television this time of day, it's a Hyundai car advertisement ( also in other countries? ). Cannot find the film at the moment.

A man driving his car and at the same moment taking pictures with his Leica M with a 50mm summilux asph lens.

This is the car you have to buy, because you can take your pictures while you drive even without autofocus. :)

Not sure the vast majority of people can even recognize a Leica camera...

It's a commercial about a " new style " car, so maybe they attach " new style " at the image of the Leica M-P 240 chrome?

Might have to disagree with the statement that 'not any people can recognise a leica'. I haven't seen the advert but it never fails to amaze how many people say ' oh a leica' when I'm out and about. Never happened with other cameras I owned before.

can't you just imagine the advertisement director- saying, 'Look- use my new Leica M camera in the shot- it is the absolute essence of class and distinction!'.

Errr. No!  :D

I carry the Leica M240 around for only about half a year, so I cannot tell much about this. As far as I remember, only two knowledgable photographers reacted to my Leica. About the same applies to my X Vario, which I carry around for nearly three years. The "red dot" or the "classic shape" do not seem to mean much to the people that I encounter on my walks (various locations in Germany, France, and Sweden)...

Best regards, Gerd

I'm trying to find the commercial, but still did not succeed.

It's a replacement of this one I think. I must say, the Leica M one is a little less exiting.

Hope to find the right one it soon.

Translation:

Think different, expect more.

More design, more style and more perspectiv.

The Hyundai i20 going from  €13995,-

or with all in one abo.€ 349,- each month.

The Hyundai i20 inclusiv navigation.

So I think, they use the Leica M , because we Leica people  think different ( is that so? ) expect more ..etc..

Also nice the car is about the same price as the Leica combination. I don't' think it's a summilux asph . Can someone help me out?

The lens is far too shiny and does not look like the Summilux  50 asph. It may be a Voigtländer Nokton 35.

I think you are right about the lens.

What I'm getting out of the use of the M240 is that Hyundai's marketing folk are attempting to equate the reputation, quality and desirability of their car with the reputation, quality and desirability of the M240.

Not to cast aspersions on the Voightlander 35/1.2 Nokton II, but is a bit comical and ironic that the marketeers did not think to use a Leica M lens in the commercial (I guess we are not supposed to notice that).

The marketing department at Hyundai has vastly underestimated the degree to which Leica  connoisseurs are OCD when it comes to M cameras and lenses.  :D

It's simply the same reason why they always use a Macintosh in advertising ads and movies instead of a Pc, because a Leica it's much more good looking than a huge, cannon lens Nikon or Canon or any other camera.
