FrozenInTime Posted June 1, 2016 Share #4 Posted June 1, 2016 Very vibrant great photographs. But as a whole, it comes out as all too shiny and perfect - as if you were on an surreal official communist party tour.

XVarior Posted June 1, 2016 Author Share #6 Posted June 1, 2016 Very vibrant great photographs. But as a whole, it comes out as all too shiny and perfect - as if you were on an surreal official communist party tour. Communist tour? Did you read through, I mentioned that while Cuba is colorful from the outside its actually grey from the inside... Also mentioned that people dressing shiny and smoking cents are actors... I'm all the oooosite of any type of tours actually, that's why I skipped al of them during my stay in Cuba and sticked to Cubans at street level. Thanks for looking amigo. www.rodriguezahr.com
GLOBETROTTER Posted June 1, 2016 Share #7 Posted June 1, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) For the distortion on the red car i think is due to use a electronic shutter speed ? Nice Colors and composition.
XVarior Posted June 1, 2016 Author Share #8 Posted June 1, 2016 For the distortion on the red car i think is due to use a electronic shutter speed ? Nice Colors and composition. It's due to to the imperfect glass used as window in that 1950 Oldsmobile :-) www.rodriguezahr.com
A miller Posted June 1, 2016 Share #9 Posted June 1, 2016 (edited) 10 out of 10 Rodrigue. In my mind it would have been 11 or 12 out of 10 with a selection of professional grade color films (such as portra, ektar (esp for the dark skin and cars) and velvia and provia slide film. . To my old school mind, the digital look holds back some of the world renowned authenticity of the culture and scenery. I am, though, infinitely jealous of your experience. One i would only dream about. Edited June 1, 2016 by A miller

Cuba is a place for photographers like you, so don't be late in going there, remember, beaches are as white and blue as you love them to be and the streets are waiting for your Eyes to capture their essence. www.rodriguezahr.com
Sparkassenkunde Posted June 2, 2016 Share #11 Posted June 2, 2016 Hello Rodrigue, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experiences with us. As a former inhabitant of a communist country I am well aware of the all so sudden changes that take place when systems collapse and the sudden power of "western" economy breaks through. That's why I think you witnessed a Cuba that might see enormous transitions soon. Your series will be a lasting document. Adam may be right, when he points out, that you could have used the power of analog photography for this series, but I think you did a very good job and used your tool in an absolutely professional manner. I would be delighted to see your work printed - may it be at an exhibition or in a book. I would be the first to buy this book

I also wish I had film on that trip, but, as I'm the One-camera-one-lens type of photographer, I thought that taking film there would be risky as I'm not fully comfortable with it due to lack of good practice. color Film here is so complicate to find and develop, and going to cuba with B&W would be a crime:-) I wish I had Adam's film skills too :-)
