jsl757 Posted May 29, 2016 Share #1 Posted May 29, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all - long time lurker and first time poster. Has anybody experienced an issue where the double image wouldn't appear inside the viewfinder? The frameline and focus guide show but when I move the focus ring nothing happens - its a fairly annoying issue. I've noticed when this happens I can hit Live view twice and the double image will appear again inside the viewfinder. I'm currently using a MP 240 on the latest firmware (it was also an issue before up the software update). Just checking if I should send the camera in for warranty. Thanks in advance! zlatkob Posted May 29, 2016 Share #2 Posted May 29, 2016 Are you accidentally covering that little window that's in front of the shutter speed dial?
Peter H Posted May 29, 2016 Share #3 Posted May 29, 2016 I vote for a stray finger. If it hasn't happened to you yet, it will. No one escapes.
jsl757 Posted May 29, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted May 29, 2016 Omigod! I've been doing this for months, I always thought it was a random camera issue. Thank you!!
kenf Posted May 29, 2016 Share #5 Posted May 29, 2016 I wish M3-style frames had made a reappearance! My M3 was the only M where I never occasionally did that.
jaapv Posted May 29, 2016 Share #6 Posted May 29, 2016 Because the M3 has little ridges around the windows so you feel it when you make this mistake. If you look carefully the rangefinder patch turns pink (depending on the shade of your finger, of course )
Tailwagger Posted May 30, 2016 Share #7 Posted May 30, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) One other little twist that can occur comes courtesy of one's wrist strap when framing in portrait. When not on your wrist, it can dangle down in front of the window causing a similar result. Been caught by that one more than once.
bocaburger Posted May 30, 2016 Share #8 Posted May 30, 2016 If you have your right hand gripping the camera with forefinger on the shutter release and left hand palm-up underneath the camera with thumb and forefinger on the lens' focus ring (or forefinger on the tab if the lens has one), I don't see how with normal anatomy it's possible to cover the rangefinder window with a stray finger
jaapv Posted May 30, 2016 Share #9 Posted May 30, 2016 If you use your indexfinger to operate the shutter your middle finger is free to wander. Unless you are using it to operate the focus aid button.
bocaburger Posted May 31, 2016 Share #10 Posted May 31, 2016 With my forefinger poised on the shutter release my middle finger naturally curves down while gripping the camera. Attempting to cover the rangefinder window with it requires a concerted effort and I can feel the muscle strain in the back of my hand. Perhaps that's why I have never had this problem. jaapv Posted May 31, 2016 Share #11 Posted May 31, 2016 I guess this depends on individual anatomy
