I have done a short review of how this lens from 1958 performs on a modern digital M240.

The output from the lens holds up well despite its age. I am sure that if the lens is 're-issued' by Leica it will be thoroughly modernised.

Nice little lens William, and some good images. I love those compact lenses.

I've started using my 35mm f3.5 Summaron 1951 a bit more lately, as I am learning to control its (uncoated) flare.

These slow lenses use the better, middle parts of lens design, the trade-off being speed of course.

Fine images from a very old little gem... but frankly I doubt that Leica will re-issue a 28 f 5,6... , even if they would like to have a "pancake" small lens, i think they could easily engineer a very compact f 3,5 / 4...

Luigi I think you will have to eat your hat on this post. I too thought they would never reissue this lens but it is a "fait accompli". I guess we were both wrong but I never posted my opinion.
