How To Update LR6.3

Recommended Posts

When I purchased a Leica M last year it included an authorization to download a standalone LR6 application, which I have done.  Adobe also offers a short term trial application of CC but I do not wish to use this & have no interest in signing up for this.  However the LR version I downloaded is v6.3 & I believe that this has been updated.  However when I go into Help > Updates, I end up in a circular presentation of options that do not lead me to being able to update my LR version 6.3.  I tried logging into the members area of Adobe.com but it also was of no help.  How can this be done?

Related to this is that I recently purchased a Leica Q which also includes an authorization to download the latest version of LR6.  However, I don't want to confound or confuse my current use of LR6 (this Leica Forum contains discussions of problems getting only a trial version or LR6 when using the latest authorizations from Leica).  So I have been reluctant to even attempt to use this as a means of updating my existing LR6.3, since I have no assurance that it will help in my situation & might in fact make things worse.  Any advice would be welcome.  Thanks in advance.

You should go to Help>Updates, click on 'updates' and it will list an available CC/LR update, if there is one.  Don't be confused by the CC/LR designation, it will allow you to proceed to install latest standalone version (6.5.1).  You won't see any clearly labeled "standalone" or "perpetual" terminology (nor the version #, as I recall) , but it will get you what you want.  I recently did it with no problem.

Thanks much; after some persistence, I was able to navigate the Adobe site to download & update my LR to v6.5.1.
