The interior of the Dohány Street Synagogue in the centre of Budapest, Hungary.

 

This was taken on the Leica M9 with a 24mm Elmarit-M f.28 @1600iso. Shutter speed was 1/45 handheld, and the aperture recorded at f2 which must be wrong.

Lovely, and much better than what I photographed there.

 

 

Thank you for the kind compliment Stuart. The big problem of course was the crowds as always in such places but they are small enough not to be intrusive. The other big problem was keeping my head covered. I was given a paper yarmulke for my head but there was no way to keep it there with my wiry hair so I spent almost as much time fighting it as I did photographing. A stunningly beautiful and very moving place though.
