Poki Posted May 4, 2016 Share #1 Posted May 4, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey guys, I'm looking for a radio transmitter to trigger flashes with a standard hot shoe for on-location shootings. I don't need any bells and whistles - it just needs to sync multiple flashes and trigger them when I press the shutter button of my M 240. They also need to be compatible with all types of flashes as long as they use a standard ISO hot shoe. The system does not need to be able to control the power or other settings of my flashes. When looking through the web, I've found hundreds of products, but none of them seems to mention the M system as compatible. So does anybody know a trigger that does for sure work on an M 240? Thank you in advance for your help!

jmahto Posted May 5, 2016 Share #2 Posted May 5, 2016 I have used Phottix Ares with M240. It is simple wireless transmitter with few slave units (I have used only one). It simply triggers flashes and you have to control the flash power manually.

jamesbf Posted May 5, 2016 Share #4 Posted May 5, 2016 http://www.ebay.ca/itm/190884848544?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Yongno RF-603 - make sure to buy the Nikon version. This is just the trigger, and a starting point for you. I have one of these triggers for a Canon DSLR and it's great.
Exodies Posted May 5, 2016 Share #5 Posted May 5, 2016 I tried a very cheap one (15€ I think) from the Internet, Nikon shoe size, worked well on the M 240.

jaques Posted May 5, 2016 Share #7 Posted May 5, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) i have used several really cheap units from ebay- they work OK though you get the occasional misfire and they are poorly made. You get what you pay for.
FlashGordonPhotography Posted May 5, 2016 Share #8 Posted May 5, 2016 Cheetah (Godox), Yongno and Phottix all work on the M just fine and are reliable. Gordon
jto555 Posted May 5, 2016 Share #9 Posted May 5, 2016 I just bought the FlashQ system. Cheap and about the smallest system on the market and will work with just about all flashes that have a centre pin in the hotshoe. Works with the Leica flashes as well. http://lightpixlabs.com/ In the UK http://www.ukphotodistro.co.uk/product_p/flashq.htm I also use the Godox system with the Godox AD and Ving systems. A bit bigger than the Q but you can change the flash output from the camera. In 3 years with the system I have never had a missfire. https://www.amazon.co.uk/PIXAPRO%C2%AE-HYBRID360-Portable-Channel-Trigger/dp/B01CSNO6CE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1462464292&sr=8-3&keywords=godox+st+16 and https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=godox+ving
Herr Barnack Posted May 5, 2016 Share #10 Posted May 5, 2016 (edited) Here is another vote for the Phottix Ares - this little unit works very well in my experience and it is quite affordable: http://www.amazon.com/Phottix-PH89230-Wireless-Transmitter-Receiver/dp/B00A4BR7KG/ref=sr_1_1/180-5399276-6463060?ie=UTF8&qid=1462465059&sr=8-1&keywords=phottix+ares Edited May 5, 2016 by Carlos Danger
Echo63 Posted May 5, 2016 Share #11 Posted May 5, 2016 Have had no real issues with my Pocketwizards (TT1, Multimax, Plus2 and TT5) TT1 and TT5 are canon versions, with one channel enabled for canon ettl, and the other channel as "dumb" centre pin triggers. Obviously the canon ttl doesnt work, but the dumb mode does. Only issues i have had have been mainly my fault. 1. Flat batteries (TT1 can eat batteries overnight, and uses a CR2450 that can be tricky to find, it is compact though) 2. Out of range (once, using them as a remote camera trigger, with the camera on a drift car, was rock solid reliable within a 400ish m radius) 3. failure to connect cables properly (same setup as #2 - forgot to reconnect the trigger cable) If you are buying flashes too, the Godox range looks pretty nice I am undecided on which model i will end up with, probably 2-3 AD600 and a few Vings
