SL + FotodioX EF-to-M adapter + Canon 300/2.8L IS II

OK so I ordered the FotodioX EF mount to M mount adapter from B&H to try the Canon 300 f/2.8L IS II lens on the SL.

// the reason for this experiment is very simple: I'm waiting anxiously for the Vario-Elamrit 90-280 to be delivered from Leica Australia ... so killing the time

 

The adapter arrived today so I rushed out before the sunset to try the combo out. The light was poor already.

I shot at 1/30sec in the A mode as I didn't have much time to think to shoot at M mode and pick up better settings. Given there is no IS in this setup and the focal length I still did a good job hand holding the shots.

I'm quite positively surprised with:

  1. how adaptable SL body is, you can throw anything at it and it will yield very decent results
  2. how good the Canon L glass is (which I know anyway, especially the mark II lenses optimised for digital sensors)
