I have an early one (with the M6 ISO dial) and it did have dust in the viewfinder, but the Leica Store in SF cleaned it out for me for free. I can see that dust does still find its way inside but I'll address it in the future. .

Mine's a 289xxxx It's from the first batch produced in 2002.

288xxxx is early ;-)

Cameras 2880100-2880500 are the 2nd pre-series MP 6, identical to the MP except perhaps for small insignificant details.

The first MP's, engraved as such on the body, would indeed be 289XXXX, but partially produced in 2003, at least according to guarantee cards supplied with some of these first MP's.

No, mine starts with 28806xx and it is an MP not an MP 6.

Sorry, I exchanged your number 28806XX and Abram's 289XXX above.

The last MP-6 is 2880500 so your's must indeed be quite early.
