platypus Posted April 22, 2016 Share #1 Posted April 22, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) We are half way through our official autumn in this hemisphere, it has been so unusually warm that, for want of an overnight snappy frost, the deciduous trees have delayed changing their colours. Michael Geschlecht Posted April 22, 2016 Share #2 Posted April 22, 2016 (edited) Hello Dee, Nice photo. I have 1 of those. Could you tell me what it is? Not the wedding ring for the Giant but the other 1. The same thing happened (As per the Weather.) a while back, here in this part of the World that is upside down from where you are. As a matter of fact what happened was that the Weather changed so slowly from warm to cold that the deciduous trees lost their leaves in 3 separate waves which were reflective of the varieties of trees involved. platypus Posted April 22, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted April 22, 2016 Hi Michael, so glad you like the photo...thanks! I have no idea what the true purpose of the artefact would be, I will try to find someone who might know and hopefully be able to post an explanation a bit later, watch this space. fotografr Posted April 22, 2016 Share #6 Posted April 22, 2016 Lovely color, Dee. And an interesting artifact. Sometimes dignitaries are presented with an oversized key to the city. Perhaps you have been presented with a key to the forest.
Michael Geschlecht Posted April 22, 2016 Share #7 Posted April 22, 2016 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello Again Dee, The 1 that is not a Giant's wedding ring is an eye bolt with a nut on the end. What I was wondering is what it was specifically used for? Best Regards, Michael Edited April 22, 2016 by Michael Geschlecht
platypus Posted April 23, 2016 Author Share #8 Posted April 23, 2016 Hello Again Dee, The 1 that is not a Giant's wedding ring is an eye bolt with a nut on the end. What I was wondering is what it was specifically used for? Best Regards, Michael Hi again Michael, Yep....I did understand what you were asking....at this point I'm sorry I have not the foggiest idea of what this object might have been used for, it's history is shrouded in the mists of time. I will make some enquiries but it will take a little time as everyone is a bit busy and hard to pin down right now. Plus I can't guarantee an enlightening answer as I found the object in question in a pile of similar discarded metal stuff that (I assume) came in a job lot from some long ago clearance sale, and so wouldn't have a known history of usage with us...but I will follow this up for you, something might come of it. Regards, Dee.
