New Leica MP Vs Leica MP Hammertone Pros and Cons ?

Hi Guys,

I'm interested to know how these two cameras compare in different areas of function and design.

Does the Hammertone have brass top and bottom?

I don't know if it is within the forum rules to ask what a mint Hammertone would be worth - but would it's worth be double or triple (or whatever) the cost of a standard MP in similar condition?

Cheers,

The hammertoe is just an alternative paint finish. Both cameras have brass top and bottom plates. Providing valuations is generally frowned upon in the forum (not really sure why) but I've no idea anyway of the going rate. Probably not as much as you'd think (or that the Hong Kong eBay dealers would like it to be).

If valuations were allowed, legal consequences could arise, if things did work out as predicted on the forum. It is, unfortunately, just a consequence of the litigious world in which we live today. In addition there would be many requests from people, who discovered a Leica in their late Grandad's cupboard, looking for valuations. Fortunately, we also have nowadays internet search engines that will produce the required information in a matter of seconds. Collectiblend is a site which blends factual information from auction results over time to give expected valuations. All of your 'Hammertones' etc are on this list. Link below.

Just to point out that Red Dot Cameras currently have a hammertone MP for GBP 3500, unboxed, no lens or Leicavit.
