cseymour Posted March 21, 2016 Share #1 Posted March 21, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I have been shooting film on my M6 for years, and have recenlty bought an M240, which I'm struggling to understand from the manual and online tutorials, Are there any M240 users here in Oxford who would be willing and able to give me a 1-2-1 tutorial ? Thanks

ECohen Posted March 21, 2016 Share #2 Posted March 21, 2016 Sorry I don't live closer to you...I wish I did. Have you seen Thorsten Overgaard M240 blog? Past the Leica instruction manual he really is a great place to start. Heres the link: http://www.overgaard.dk/Leica-M-Type-240-aka-Leica-M10-digital-rangefinder-camera-page-30.html This Blog is always there for your specific questions...What exactly are you struggling with? Best of Luck ...... Hope this helps

Belle123 Posted March 21, 2016 Share #4 Posted March 21, 2016 The suggestion to check out Thorsten's article is an excellent one. You might also try looking up some tutorials on youtube. Good luck! It's a jump from film to digital. And learning Lightroom is also a hurdle, but fun once gotten some good instruction. Have fun!
Peter Kilmister Posted March 21, 2016 Share #5 Posted March 21, 2016 Welcome to the forum. PM sent as I live only an hour from Oxford.
Steve Ricoh Posted March 21, 2016 Share #6 Posted March 21, 2016 (edited) Compared to most of the oriental cameras on the market, the M240 is one of the easiest cameras to use. As someone has already mentioned, having a look at Overgaard's blog is quite helpful. There's really not much to set before going out and practising, especially if you plan to use it as a rangefinder, rather than a mirrorless camera. Get the essentials sorted then build from there. There's quite a good book by David Taylor on the M240, an expanded user manual of 200+ pages written in easily understood language. ' Leica M Typ 240 The Expanded Guide by David Taylor ' ISBN 978-1-78145-039-0 I obtained a new copy off Amazon for £10.95. No aperture ring, no shutterspeed dial and a load of multifunctional controls. Not the most intuitive piece of equipment you'll ever use ! M9reno Posted March 23, 2016 Share #15 Posted March 23, 2016 The King's Arms (OX1 3SP) say this Saturday, 3pm, for a pint and a walk?
Ernstk Posted March 23, 2016 Share #16 Posted March 23, 2016 The King's Arms (OX1 3SP) say this Saturday, 3pm, for a pint and a walk? That's a good choice. Great location for a walk around with lots of photo opportunities. I will probably be in Edinburgh this weekend so I'm unlikely to be there... http://kingsarmsoxford.co.uk/
M9reno Posted March 23, 2016 Share #17 Posted March 23, 2016 Could be the weekend after that instead... Saturday April 2nd?
Ernstk Posted March 24, 2016 Share #18 Posted March 24, 2016 Could be the weekend after that instead... Saturday April 2nd? Yes, that would work for me. Who else is interested in joining in?
Peter Kilmister Posted March 24, 2016 Share #19 Posted March 24, 2016 Saturday 2nd April sounds good for me. What's the best place to park for OX1 3SP? Park & Ride? Peter
Ernstk Posted March 24, 2016 Share #20 Posted March 24, 2016 You could try St Giles but it's usually pretty busy. A safe bet on a Saturday is Blackhall Road, just behind Keble. (Parks Road>Keble Road>Blackhall Road) I'm not sure what the time limit is, so Park & Ride might be the better option... Ernst
