I asked if I could take his picture and he said "Course you can I've been coming here for years",  Outside the Harp of Erin Pub  - Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Your series is gritty and thought provoking, a welcome relief from the unreality of "pretty" photographs. The "peopled" scenes are emotional. We all know people like the ones outside this pub. This is certainly a book.

I prefer the colour version. I think for the B&W to work, it could be more stark, with much higher contrast?

What a cast of characters Paul! There are quite a number of years between and within these men.

 

This series is a great documentation worthy as a book.

Very nice. The old song generally is sung as "Sur le pont..." when it is actually "Sous le pont", because the dancing in the song happened under, not on, the famous bridge.

I knew the bridge from the song as well. 

Indeed, always heard "sur le pont". I suppose "sous le pont" sounded a bit strange

This reminded me of a bird shot I just happened upon. For fun I'll post it but in no way do I intend to compete with yours.

Getting those birds to line up is one thing but waiting for that jet is quite another. Expertly planned and executed.

 

This reminded me of a bird shot I just happened upon. For fun I'll post it but in no way do I intend to compete with yours.

I came across these pigeons while driving to an area I wanted to re-photograph. No sooner had I turned the car around and got out than a jet suddenly appeared above them.

 

This was the flight path from one of the nearby airport runways.

 

I was very fortunate that there were regular take-offs but had to wait for the right one heading in the right direction before I could capture the image I had in mind.

Lovely tonal range.

 

If you hadn't mentioned the scale it would have been easy to think these were much smaller birds. It gives the image an entirely different perspective!
