maxofrome Posted February 10, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 10, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear community. In the following days I will have the SL for studio shooting and right now I am reading the instruction manual but I miss one information. Is the tethering supported? Using in studio a Hasselblad , I have normally the camera connected to the laptop for an immediate shooting review. I did not understand if such feature is supported by the SL. My you help me on that?
Advertisement Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Hi maxofrome, Take a look here SL and tethering ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
dwphoto Posted February 10, 2016 Share #2 Posted February 10, 2016 No tethering. Strange, I know. Perhaps Leica will fix this as we've seen this post a lot.
rsmphoto Posted February 10, 2016 Share #3 Posted February 10, 2016 They definitely mention tethering the SL via USB cable in their literature, it's just not available yet. Hopefully soon?
MediaFotografie Posted February 10, 2016 Share #4 Posted February 10, 2016 ...we have to wait for Leica Image Shuttle SL - or a Lightroom Update with Tethering for the SL
maxofrome Posted February 10, 2016 Author Share #5 Posted February 10, 2016 Thanks all. So pretty odd, because I must admit tethering in studio is a sort of "must to have" but I will handle without. I am little wondering why a camera of this sort is missing a so "easy feature". Or probably Leica does not suppose to be used as a Studio camera. Thanks again for the clarification,
ramarren Posted February 10, 2016 Share #6 Posted February 10, 2016 It might not be quite so easy as all that, or the priorities are very different for the modern marketplace. For example, the Olympus E-M1 took over their "top of the line camera" position in October 2013 and they always had a tethering solution for their top of the line camera ... Just like with the SL, the "Olympus Image Sharing" wireless control/capture software for smart phones and tablets was available almost immediately, but the Olympus Capture software for cabled tethering to laptop/desktop systems wasn't available for 13 months (November 2014). I suspect the same will be true of the SL: the Leica SL app (wireless tethering) for iOS and Android was available pretty much at the same time as the camera; we're waiting on the Leica Image Shuttle cabled tethering solution for desktop systems...
MediaFotografie Posted February 11, 2016 Share #7 Posted February 11, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) ...today (or yesterday) there is a new version of Leica Image Shuttle for the S (007) (Version 3.2) - but still nothing for SL, strange... (and, btw, Leica Image Shuttle 3.x only for Mac, no Windows version)
