I like the first - without people in it. It emphasises the suitably forbidding air - and of course the grim weather conditions.

Thanks Alun....I kept the exposure consistent to what the conditions looked like at the time of the shot. It was a pretty dark and dreary, early morning walk to the office...hence the overall darker tone of the set.  Still deciding if I should lighten them up a bit.

Well, as far as the first one is concerned, I'm not sure it needs got be lightened, exactly, but it could perhaps use greater contrast, perhaps...
