cliffp Posted February 1, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 1, 2016 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Firstly, apologies for the title - it was supposed to be "Vertical Line in Image". Something went wrong and I wasn't able to correct it. I recently sent my M9 to Solms to check for a potential corrosion problem (on the advice of Leica Uk after I had failed to get the sensor clean). Leica HQ said there was no corrosion and returned the camera having cleaned the sensor. I did a test shot of my computer monitor to test for dust (it was dark outside) and discovered a vertical line in the image (see below). Is this a case of dead pixels? Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Hi cliffp, Take a look here Vertical line in image. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jdlaing Posted February 1, 2016 Share #2 Posted February 1, 2016 ISO 640 perhaps?
cliffp Posted February 1, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted February 1, 2016 The line is always in the same place in the image. If it was due to noise (caused by the higher iso of 640), wouldn't any artifact be randomly located?
cliffp Posted February 1, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted February 1, 2016 I've looked at another image which was captured at iso160 and the line is there in the same place. BTW thank you to the person (moderator?) who corrected my messed up thread title!
jdlaing Posted February 1, 2016 Share #5 Posted February 1, 2016 Looks like a dead or hot pixel in which the entire line goes dead. It will have to be remapped by Leica, I'm afraid.
Ciaren Posted March 6, 2016 Share #6 Posted March 6, 2016 Friend of mine has the same issue a year ago, needed to be reset by Leica itself.
Berlinman Posted March 6, 2016 Share #7 Posted March 6, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) jdlaing and Ciaren are right. CS has to remap the dead pixel. I had it 2 times with my M240.
TIV Posted May 3, 2016 Share #8 Posted May 3, 2016 Does Leica charge for a remap like that?
jdlaing Posted May 3, 2016 Share #9 Posted May 3, 2016 (edited) Not at Leica USA. That I'm aware of. It's been a while since I had an M-9 done. Edited May 3, 2016 by jdlaing
hhanebeck Posted May 6, 2016 Share #10 Posted May 6, 2016 Thanks for posting! This is very helpful. I saw a vertical line on my M9 very recently as well and was wondering what causes it.
