timclark Posted January 22, 2016 Share #1 Posted January 22, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi I have a digilux 2 and the body rubber started to expand and come off. I bought a kit from the US which was a fake leather look to replace it, however this is coming off as well. Would Leica be able to restore the rubber? ( I’ll ask my dealer anyway) Either way it needs a bit of tlc. Thank you Tim

jaapv Posted January 23, 2016 Share #2 Posted January 23, 2016 Cameraleather sells recovering kits of very good quality and will even do the new leather for you. Having Leica do it will be pricey, if they still have the parts, and certainly exceed the value of he camera. After all, it is twelve years old. timclark Posted January 23, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted January 23, 2016 Thanks for the reply. I think I used Cameraleather last time and even with very careful application it's peeling off. You're right, probably a waste of money to refurbish it. I don't use much now. I had a good run with it. But a bit of black duct tape will give it that very beaten up look! stuny Posted January 23, 2016 Share #4 Posted January 23, 2016 Leica used to offer a replacement service for a charge, check with them to see if they still do. The 3rd party replacement folks used to offer many different color leather replacementkits, leading to a full range of D2 cameras from beautiful to weird.
