Michael Hiles Posted January 21, 2016 Share #2 Posted January 21, 2016 Very nice, Al. I am sure you will enjoy Amsterdam (perhaps this isn't your first trip) - the city is liveable, quite walkable and gracious, and the citizens are friendly and helpful. If you are interested in pictures, the museums are outstanding. The Rijksmuseum is very large and the collection is outstanding. The Van Gogh museum is absolutely not to be missed. A little less well know is The Hermitage - this is a "branch plant" of the great museum in St Petersberg Russia. If you have the time, a side trip to Haarlem is a short train ride. Some places require tickets - buy them online before you leave - you will avoid serious line ups. Really - do this. Even Schipol airport is great. Take the train into town. We will certainly return in the next few years.
allamande Posted January 21, 2016 Share #3 Posted January 21, 2016 I would also highly recommend the History Museum. If you can catch a concert at the Concertgebouw you will never forget it (Wednesdays noonish they have a free "rehearsal/concert" open to the public). Have a great time, so much to do and enjoy in this jewel of a city! Ece
albert Posted January 22, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted January 22, 2016 Ece, and Michael, Many thanks. We have Vivalde tickets for Saturday, February 6, 2016. Our canal-side small hotel guarantees to have tickets for us for four museums/galleries. Six nights of fun.
