willclarke15 Posted January 13, 2016 Share #1 Posted January 13, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey guys, Just bought my first leica yesterday, I managed to find a great used Leica Minilux in good condition. My question is to everyone that owns or has owned a Minilux is, How quiet actually are they, this is my first time working with one. I think i've ruined one roll of film already because I wasn't aware the shutter was opening. Any advice would be awesome. Just so i don't ruin more film un-intentionally. Cheers everyone Will
Advertisement Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Hi willclarke15, Take a look here How loud/quiet is the Leica Minilux ??. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
250swb Posted January 14, 2016 Share #2 Posted January 14, 2016 They are not quiet, the film advance mechanism is pretty noisy. The shutter opening unexpectedly can be stopped if you stop pressing the shutter button, so if it didn't come with instructions you will be able to find a .pdf copy somewhere on the internet. Enjoy your camera, they have very good lenses. Steve
chrism Posted January 15, 2016 Share #3 Posted January 15, 2016 Steve forgot to include this link to the PDF, and I expect you already know that pressing the shutter button tends to open the shutter in most cameras. When you say 'ruined', do you mean 'wasted frames as I didn't realise it had taken the photo the first time I pressed the button'? Cheers everyone Will My 1st ? - did you buy it from a Leica dealer? 2nd ? - Any warranty? Why not pop into a Leica dealer and ask them! masjah Posted January 24, 2016 Share #6 Posted January 24, 2016 Considerable noise and vibration. I don't find the vibration too bad at all if I have time to do a half press so that the lens is focussed first. Then the shutter itself is pretty good, and the subsequent noise/vibration is the film wind-on, which is actually after the event.
