ShivaYash Posted December 3, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 3, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Should the rewind lever (front) on my m6 non TTL body automatically return to the 12 o'clock position after rewinding the film? Advertisement Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Hi ShivaYash, Take a look here M6 rewind question.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ShivaYash Posted December 3, 2015 Author Share #2 Posted December 3, 2015 Or does one need to manually reset it after rewind is complete?
Fotoklaus Posted December 3, 2015 Share #3 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) If you move your film winding lever a bit, the rewind lever will pop in it´s upright position. So this will happen anyway, when you load your next roll of film. It´s unforgettable :-) Edited December 3, 2015 by Fotoklaus

Annoying as the camera only arrived today. Will contact the seller as this is NOT right. An easy fix?
A miller Posted December 3, 2015 Share #5 Posted December 3, 2015 if it is not as smooth as silk, i would return it promptly and find another one sorry that happened to you!
Fotoklaus Posted December 3, 2015 Share #6 Posted December 3, 2015 I own three Film-Ms (M2, M3, M6) and on every camera its just a little "click" an the lever pops on its upright position. There is something wrong with it.
ShivaYash Posted December 3, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted December 3, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) This example does not do that. Is this a tricky fix?
rpavich Posted December 3, 2015 Share #8 Posted December 3, 2015 This example does not do that. Is this a tricky fix? I have no idea but I would either return it if it were me because you didn't pay for a "partly working" Leica but a fully functioning one. If the seller won't take it back, then have him/her refund the cost of a CLA and get it done by DAG or Sherry. I wouldn't live with something messed up on a camera that I plan to own for the rest of my life; it would bug me every time I shot it.

DAG and Sherry are in the US aren't they? We have Leica repairers in the UK too.

ShivaYash Posted December 3, 2015 Author Share #11 Posted December 3, 2015 I'm actually in Melbourne for the moment. Any one used Shutter Bug on Toorak Road?
Pjay Posted December 4, 2015 Share #12 Posted December 4, 2015 Shutter Box has pretty mixed results from Google reviews. Just sayin' ... Hope you can get it sorted without too much drama.
ShivaYash Posted December 4, 2015 Author Share #13 Posted December 4, 2015 Shutter Box has pretty mixed results from Google reviews. Just sayin' ... Hope you can get it sorted without too much drama. I spoke to Mei this morning, of Shutter Box. Her work seems very good value compared to others I have contacted. The camera does not need a full CLA, at least that is my understanding from the fact the seller, also in Australia, has run five rolls through it without any issue. The shutter speeds seem fine, I timed the 1 second exposure against my watch and it was pretty much bang-on. I also spoke to Vic today, formerly of Camera Exchange and now semi-retired and operating from home in Sunshine. As others have said above, I paid for a mechanically working camera which this is not. I need to have a think... and of course liaise with the seller. Who would you go to for a repair in Melbourne?
ShivaYash Posted December 4, 2015 Author Share #14 Posted December 4, 2015 Yep, my mistake...I didin't read the OP's location. Sorry I have not updated my location... I'm actually in Melbourne, Australia.

I wouldn't live with something messed up on a camera that I plan to own for the rest of my life; it would bug me every time I shot it. Indeed, I purchased this for myself, around 5-6 rolls a year I was thinking. My main camera is the Type 220 M-E which I love. I hope to pass this onto one of my children... lets see what I can arrange with the seller, once I know what it will cost to repair. With the exchange rate in my favour, over $2 AUD to the £, it makes sense to do the work here, especially as I wish to use the thing during this trip. Fotoklaus Posted December 4, 2015 Share #16 Posted December 4, 2015 I think that there is not much work to do. In general the rewind lever is working. Maybe just some dirt and old grease to be removed.
gbealnz Posted December 4, 2015 Share #17 Posted December 4, 2015 I'm not in Oz obviously, but my X1 got repaired by Camera Clinic in (I think) Melbourne. Excellent to deal with. Gary
michaelwj Posted December 4, 2015 Share #18 Posted December 4, 2015 Sorry I have not updated my location... I'm actually in Melbourne, Australia. If you're in Melbourne, camera exchange in box hill are another option. I've used both them and camera clinic and both are good, but I prefer dealing with camera exchange. I'm in Melbourne too. Cheers, Michael

I spoke to them this morning and was told their repair man Vic is semi retired and works from home. Ps. I'd be keen on organising a Melbourne Leica meet. Is there already a club here? A photo walk would be good.
ShivaYash Posted December 4, 2015 Author Share #20 Posted December 4, 2015 The plot thickens... my friend at Leica Mayfair says this: The 'R' lever normally snaps back into the upright position, but only after you move it with your fingers - it doesn't do so automatically after the film is rewound. This is difficult to the manual... any comments?
